A nice front 021 and squared off but still legal 020 rear. I wouldn't put any value on the rear TBH - it's an MOT pass which young Reeder needed so it goes free with the front if it's required. The Front's barely scrubbed in - only got a few hundred miles on it. Make me an offer and get it out my garage. In fact, I might be in Newcastle in a couple of weeks so you could save the postage.

I've just had Roadsmarts fitted and the Dunlop spec says 36/42 which seems a bit extreme. The front is 120/70 17 as it's on the Gixer front wheel, the rear is standard 160/60 17.

Getting terrible vibes through the front though, even when it was at 33 psi yesterday. He put the front on 1st 'cos he didn't have a rear at the time and I rode home with the old Avon ultra still on the back. I noticed the vibes then but just put it down to the front fighting with the back (different tyre mix and the rear being squared off).

When he put the rear on today, still noticed the vibes...makes your hands go numb after 15/20 mins riding. Could it be the front isn't balanced properly? Think I'm gonna let them down a bit anyway to more like 33/36, but still think there's summat else afoot.

Aside from the vibes, really like the roadsmarts...tip in brilliantly and the bikes almost yearning to lean over more.

That level of vibration does not sound normal.

Not the same garage that gave your bike such a thorough and meticulous safety check after your front end swap was it?

Well, you're not the first to have your head turned by the more racy model. Just wait til it's cold and raining and you'll be wondering what you've done.

Sure, the Bridgestones were a bit frumpy and homely, but you knew where you stood and your dinner was always on the table.

But by the time you've realised what you've lost, it'll be too late. Mark my words, she'll have moved on. Probably be sh*gging the bloke next door.

....what were we talking about again?

(Of course you're forgiven. You had me at "I'll buy you a pint")

Back on topic, Bridgestone also specify 36/42 and I found that was better than the 33/36 I was running them at originally. Never tried the Dunlops but I would get the balance checked again if the vibes are still there.

No...this guy was a mobile fitter who came to my workplace to fit them. His van did have all the gear in the back as you would expect, including a balancer.

It had crossed my mind whether it was just new rubber making the vibrations, it's definitely noticeable through the grips, but there's no distinct wobble or owt at speed and it runs straight if you take your hands off the bars.

I think I may have had similar when the Avons were first fitted...although that was when the head bearings were 'finger tight'.
