If you want to help things along bath all bolts and pins in plusgas (or penetrating oil of your choice) now.

The brakes and everything are fully assembled atm, will have to wait until tomorrow. I've no experience with brakes and don't really want to mess things up, hence the neighbour helping. I'll probably strip the brakes and leave it in oil overnight to ease things up then carry on with it on sunday.

EDIT: How are the tail fairings with taking off? Undo the seat and then?

Hint for you, first remove pins* and pads, then put caliper back on the disc and pump pistons out. If you are lucky this will bring both out evenly as far as they will go. Then crack** caliper half bolts off, disassemble everything, clean, add rubber grease and reassemble.

*Have fun
**Have more fun. Don't even think of using allen key.

Thanks YC, how will I get it off without the allen key? Also is there any need to take tail fairing off to access the rear reservoir? I have a big 100ml syringe around somewhere which I can use so I don't have to pour it in, so it should be nice and tidy.

Use an allen socket, preferably a good one. It is like an M10 bolt with a 6mm head so you can imagine how they like to seize.

If in doubt get it on the bench and give it a good shocking with a hammer and bath it from both sides in penetrant, if that doesn't work try heat. Don't go mental at first attempt and round it out,.

If your fluid is that low your seals would have been leaking. An impact wrench is useful.

Or your pads are all but gone.

Pads are fine apparently, I think it's just due to this moisture getting in it. I'll see how it goes.

I've got a wrench will allen bits so I'll give that a go first.

I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow, ta!

You don't have to take the rear plastics off to access the reservoir. It's possible to angle it towards you to undo the screws.

Just make sure you've got a well fitting screwdriver so you don't round out those screws. Then use your syringe to refill.

My calipers were in relatively good condition when I stripped them and I still had to use an allen socket AND a breaker bar...good luck!
