Same here. That report was harrowing and if I am honest I could not bare to watch it. Sorry.

The people I work with are also profoundly autistic, yet I could not live with myself if I treated them a fraction of how badly those poor people were treated. Working with adults who have learning difficulties is about supporting them to find freedom and peace in the community, not to engage in sick humiliation rituals.

I was made a Key worker for one of my lads a short while ago because it was noticed that he responds very well to my support. It was one of the proudest days in working career. My lad is a gentle, fragile person, the thought of anyone hurting him fills me with horror and I would defend him as if he were my own family.

I hope that those responsible are jailed for a long time. It is not just the staff that did it though, the managers who allowed it to continue unchecked and the staff at the CQC who failed to act on the complaint have a great deal to think about right now.

All human beings are worthy of being treated with dignity, those with learning difficulties just as much as the rest of us. Being a support worker is something you do because you care about other human beings, I care about all of the people I support, I encourage them to be brave when they are fearful, I encourage them to try new things and I encourage them to enjoy their lives. Those abusers are just sick and they have committed awful crimes against people not able to defend themselves. They deserve the full might of the law that will now be pressing upon them.

It is a sad day for the caring industry.

Guy's got to have massive balls to have done that - if they were doing that to the patients, imagine what they may have done to prevent it getting out...
I agree fully with this - it seems I may have not got my view across as well as I thought.

I feel sorry for anyone who's gone into the job "blind" and been convinced that's how things were done, or who felt obliged to see it go on rather than blow the whistle on it.

Shoot 'em.

PNC check? Doesn't that just say you haven't been caught?

Aye - it does, but certificates - again I know they really count for nuffin - to say that you've completed a course or partaken in some theory about how to treat a human decently would be required for a job like that?

I dunno how you police it, prove it, whatever. Seems the red tape is in all the wrong places.

Iplayer link to the programme http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...Abuse_Exposed/ Just watched it, verdict I'd jail them all for 10 years.

Just watched it. Not ashamed to say it made me cry. I cannot understand, even in my line of work, how someone could be so unbelievably evil to another human being.

I am so angry!!!! Words fail me.

All he was interested in was saving his own skin and also avoiding saying they made a mistake. A misjudgement......so in other words, you made a mistake?
