I have the shock at maximum and the forks one less. It still feels dodgy when getting a move on down the lanes but fine on A roads. I'm looking to progressive springs and an adjustable shock in the future. Oh, I'm about 14 stone including leather jacket.

Sorry its been a while since I posted. My rear shock is set to 6, forks arnt adjustable. I find that when going over bumpy roads I tend to get shaken up quite a bit, sometimes bounce around on the seat so Im guessing I need to lower the preload setting?

I dont have the right tool for the job so Ill have to wait till I can order one before I adjust anything.

The rear is set to max.

Do you not have the tool that came with the bike?

Its a C Spanner if my memory serves me right.
failing that a decent gauge 2.5" (i think) C spanner will also work.

Spooky! Just discovered the "tool that came with the bike" myself. It was about the only non-rusty tool in the still original kit under the seat! I wanted to tweak the preload up a bit because with my fairly solid 12 year old lad on the back, it always feels very soft when he gets on. The suspension had obviously never moved by the original owner because the adjuster ring needed a lot of WD40, a fair amount of welly and one barked knuckle before it shifted.

I'll see how much difference it makes tomorrow morning.

No luck. One of the previous owners must have nabbed it as its not in the tool bag. Looks like I will have to order one then.

Got another probalem that needs sorting first, I now have a whirring type noise coming from rear wheel on the sprocket side. Hope its not the bearings.
