I did my cowl on my SV, all I can say is removing the paint was the first job and getting it ready took the longest.
Once it was ready, primer covers all blemishes. Then a base coat, top coat, and then sealed with clear lacquer. Remember to rub down with at least 2000 grit wet and dry and rubbing compound with water. Lots of how to guides online. And at the end I was a pro at it. All done from a rattle can, but after looking into my next project I would get a compressor and a spray kit. Compressors are about £80 and a spray kit is £20 So after everything you'd be looking at easy £250 but you would he kitted out for anything. Plus the accomplishment of doing it all yourself. Depends what you want really. Do you want a professional standard job? Or do you want something that might not be perfect but totally passable as professional and you get to play. You need a good space to do it in, and you can use a hair dryer / heated room to speed up the process... Totally agree with preparation preparation preparation!!! Good luck anyway. |
