I bought my SV straight after passing my test in December, I had a couple of months between my CBT and full test on a 125 but no experience other than that. I like the predictability of the SV, it does what I tell it to and the odd occasion where things have gotten a bit scary I've known that it's something I've done, learnt from it and moved on.

On the alarm note I asked for the premium difference with and without and it made no difference at all. I still declared it but they've not asked for a stickycat.

They will ask if you claim, then if you don't have it will be void.

Welcome! I'll also add my "far too clean" comment. Your pic takes me back to when I had my brand new bike delivered ... its never been the same since! It definitely needs some "history" on it, if you know what I mean.

Your test is coming up? Good luck. Also did the DAS route and failed 3 times. On all 3 occasions I used a Honda CB500 which did not suit me. Finally, I took a chance and used my SV650, which I - like you - purchased before passing and until then had sat still for 2 months (apart from late Sunday night jaunt to an empty car park).

SV was far more manageable & needless to say I passed. Take your time, take it steady, anticipate the examiner's instructions but take an extra moment to think before acting (if possible).

As for insurance, Bikeramy is right. They'll generally only want to see all paperwork in the event of a claim but will be very sharp on rejecting one if anything is missing. (Note to self - get those alpha dots).

Good luck with the test.

Welcome mate, that is a nice looking example you've got there.

I dont like red bikes normally but that looks good, keep the wax topped up or it will oxidise.

I doubt these days alarms make the slightest difference, guy on another thread uses tracker and doesnt see a difference in his premiums and thats the most effective theft deterrent imo.

Hello and welcome. As for your sin I did the same and promptly spent two years on a 125! However, my SV is probably the best bike I could have chosen; so pass that test and enjoy your bike as you continue to build your skill base and learn the skills of riding on the open road.

Good luck
