Would you not recommend the SV for 2 up touring? I realise they are quite a small bike. My alternative choice would be the TDM

Touring on one would not be for me!!! My SV SK6 is the most unconfortable bike I've had, as I'm tall, but it is a fantastic short range fun commuter. A pillion also takes all the sparkle, handling wise, off.

Other guys tour all day without a problem so just my opinion (problem).

Have you checked out the GSXF600? Better suited to 2up touring.

I'm surprised nobody has made a better case for a bit of shortish range 2 up touring with the SV.
We're in our sixties and don't want anything too big and heavy, but maybe the SV is too small after all. There must be owners out there who have experience of what we would like to do?
Any information gratefully received.

Likewise regarding age and for touring i have found the older Triumph Sprint 955i ideal.
They can be found with hard luggage for about the same price as a good secondhand SV[£2000-2500]----very comfortable over long distance especially with the touring screen fitted. The payload is 217kgs and because you have 955cc the performance is only slightly down when fully loaded and going about your day at the speed limits returns me 45-50mpg.

In comparison to the SV it is streets ahead as a tourer and I toured quite a bit on my SV before changing to the ST which has now done 50K miles but will not be getting changed as I can't find anything that fits the niche to compare with it.

With regard to being too big and heavy you find that you have to turn the ST but it feels a lot less skittish--more planted than the SV,more capable for the purpose as a tourer. Yes a bit heavier but this is counteracted by an excellent balance, both the bike and the power

The alternative would be DL650 or 1000

Or a VFR800 or 750

Better suited to two up touring
