Default Re: Pointy, knocking noise?

OK, here's the latest on this thing.

A quick review - My bike had as burst oil cooler pipe a few months back and I raplaced it. It was ok for a while then started leaking a wee bit. Then the other day I heard what I thought was a knock going around corners.

I wasn't sure how many washers were on the replaced oil pipe, if at all so ordered some from ebay. I started looking at everything yesterday evening until poor light stopped me. I was missing a washer from each end so replaced both ends with the new copper ones and retightened the banjo bolts. I checked my Iridium plugs to make sure they looked ok and weren't too loose - or tight. They were ok. Checked the air filter and every time I check it (every few months), the breather gauze has a milky deposit on it with some sitting in the base of the breather. This time however it was clear and smelt a bit petrolly.

Checked the chain for tightness and cleaned and reoiled it. Spun both wheels to check for anything near the chicken strips and nothing found. Gave the wheels a tug to see if there was any bearing noises but nothing. My front left brake caliper is rubbing slightly and i had it off last weekend but counldn't service it 'cos the pin was siezed so put it back till I get another pin. When I press the front brake the caliper isn't floating at one end cos it's siezed and when I tugged the caliper, it made a noise like the one I heard the other day.

I took the bike out for a tour around the block to see if the noise was still there and even tried a few tight corners but never heard the knock. I was out for about 1o mins so not sure if this is enough or the problem has gone.

What i would say is that when I drained the oil, noticed that the sight glass was full to the brim which would have been because i put oil in it thinking it was empty. I noticed that the knock was more prevalent when i drove home last night (with the overfill of oil) and now that I've redone the oil its in the middle of empty and full.

Phew, loads of stuff to chew over but i suppose the real test will be tomorrow.
