One more quick thing, if it is the CCT which has gone and needs replacing, am I right in thinking that you can use one from the pointy models?
I seem to recall reading somewhere that they are interchangable and that the ones used in the pointies are better quality, although I might be completely wrong here. |

Ok, have just had the front CCT out and it seems to be working perfectly, which isn't really good news as it means that is is probably something more major.
Anybody got any ideas what I should be checking next? |

did you do the 'clutch lever fully in' test? That would eliminate the clutch/gearbox to some extent. If you are still getting horrible noises then my next step would be opening up cylinder head covers to take a look, may well be a big end bearing knackered though.
edit, make sure the CCT is refitted before attempting this! |

I forgot to do that before taking the CCT out, however I was going to get the cover off the clutch tomorrow and check that nothing has come apart.
And don't worry, I'm going to put the CCT back in before doing anything else. |

I have a 2004 k3 naked, it's been faultless for 14 k but you've got me concerned with your comment "it's not a k3 is it" can't find anything on the web to suggest the k3 might be problematic ?

Ok, I now have a few days off work and would really like to find out what the problem is before I have to go back.
My mechanical knowledge is crap, absolute crap, but I can do most jobs provided that I actually know what the job is and that the Haynes manual covers it! So, can somebody who is more knowledgable than I am please provide me with a clear list of things to check, preferably nothing which would require me to drop the engine out of the bike. Thank you. |

And I had a K3 race bike with 20,000 miles on it before I raced it mercilessly for three years. It never missed a beat.

I'm in Bristol and have had help from a few people off this forum before but I want to do as much as I can myself before asking anybody else to help. I just need suggestions as to what the most likely problems could be and what I should be checking.
