Just try high beam flashing the lights on the way to them, no stopping needed. Note do this when no one else is around.

I did this the other day and it worked. YC does it in the van a lot

Apparently it only works when there's no other traffic. It might just be me, but if there's no traffic then in most cases I'm going through the light anyway.

Yeah, I've only bothered if it's just me, i.e. late at night or early morning. I do find at early morn (4ish) the lights seem happy to mostly stay at green which suits me just fine. As for going through them anyway, naughty Tam
