Nice, S or E version wouldve been better though IMO, could go green laning on it too then
I was thinking that for a bit of light green laning get some dual purpose tyres? itll be used mainly on road anyway I reckon thats why I went SM, just need to go play now but i dont fancy getting wet

Whatever you do, do NOT talk to owenski about DRZs. You will be forever poor, and in the garage.
Yeh, ive heard a rumour or two that he's a bit obsessive on the drz front but at least if it all goes wrong I know where he lives

What have you done to yours so far then MR owenski, just out of curiosity, And same question to you Mr specialone. This things in need of a general tidy up and then it might get to the playing about stage but not sure what to do with it, need to have a good read up on thumper talk I reckon.

Cheers

Erm well I totally dismantled mine because the previous owner made a hash of it. I then bought another road legal one and a few off road ones to use for more parts, I've now got 2 complete bikes. Although only One is in full working order and I'm using everyday the other is in various bits split between the powder coasters and been boxed up In my cellar.

I haven't done much to mine tbh, tidied up some worm frame paint, mini serviced regular etc.
Fitted an in line fuel filter, rear rack, 12v socket, oem hand guards and a scorpion end can is about it, most of my time on it has been riding or cleaning it after getting muddy

Ive just remembered that theres no key for the steering lock, are they a pain to change without the key etc? and i might invest in a rear rack jobby eventually and some hand guards. main thing is indys now and relay for them but all in good time I supose.

I wouldnt worry about the steering lock, hardly robust tbh, with that much leverage on the bars, im sure you could snap it easy anyway.

There's a rear rack on ebay atm for £15 BIN btw.

Phils right steering lock is next to useless on these.
Mods wise there is a common one you can do which don't cost a penny but chances are your previous owner already did this.
Then there are 2 carb mods options one which cost no more than £50 and gives a couple of extra bhp or a £250-£300 option which adds around 7bhp which is quite a lot on a bike with only 34bhp to begin with.

FYI Im free Wednesday night this week Danny if you wanna pop up on it an I'll give it a look over properly.

Yeah standard SM carb is the same as in the S model. Its a CV unit with much lower jetting than is possible. Quick jet switch and cut a hole in the air box and you're laughing (jets come in a kit for £30 plus USA shipping). The rest is free and easy.
The bigger more expensive mod is the FCR it's standard on the E model but again even the standard E model carb is down jetted from what's achievable. 2nd hand can be found around £150 area but new mine was £330 inc shipping.

Couple of mods to do for the stock CV though ( there in my dr350 build ) is cut a coil from the slider spring and a small hole enlargement to improve throttle response, but the 3x3 airbox, bigger jets, good filter and move the needle up a notch make a hell of a difference.
