If they want to get past they need to put the effort in as I'm not going to alter my line.

Personally i would do the same as when a good road has a bunch of cars 10+ in a row and lots of solid white lines. Pull over for a bit, take a breather, give it 5 and get back on the road. Hopefully by that point you've got a good bit of breathing space and they've buggered off
I'm with Daddyjob on this one. If you can't get around them AND get away just pull over and chill for a bit.

If they are fast on straights and slow in bends then you going past them will either have them up your chuff on the next straight or have you pulling them out of a hedge on the next corner.

i think a lot of people get upset especially the ones in groups when i make my way threw them as i get a lot of funny looks at meeting points.

why don't people keep an eye on their mirrors and let faster riders by is beyond me. if someone comes fast up behind me (good luck on that one but it has happened) i pull over a little, slow up a little and usher them by and think 'go on my son' and have a big grin on my face.

then you get the complete opposite ****s that think they have the skill to chase you which i find funny as feck watching them get all out of shape in my mirrors.

most of the time it's the power rangers that pizz me off as they blast up the straights (yes m8 you have a big powerful bike) then pussyfoot round the corners, it's those that i end up having to overtake on bends.

then you get the dozy fecks that don't check their mirrors or use indicators before an overtake. so they have given no intent to pass the vehicle in front at which point i'm usually winding on the throttle with my indicator on when they decide that they want to do the same which results in a shake of the head.

and the one that really really get my goat is the 'i ride for myself'. well if that's your attitude then feck off and find another group coz if your in mine you look out for each other.

yes i have no friends

I'd ride with you Bibio. Probably have to put a 5bhp restrictor on my bike and put myself under sedation to keep myself slow enough to ride at your pace, but I'd be willing to do that.

On a more serious note, the only thing I disagree with is the checking mirrors before an overtake thing. I agree this should be done, but when I'm riding in a group, I expect the person behind to wait for me to overtake before blasting past me. If I am obviously positioning myself to overtake at the next opportunity, and when I go to do it, the person behind is trying to leap frog me and car, that's a bit out of order. Don't think that's ever happened in the groups I ride in.

The only exception is when we ride with restricted bikes or newbies who have no intention of overtaking, and then they're fair game, so long as they're not obviously positioning themselves to overtake.

Aside from that, I have no probs when people go past me. In fact, like you I'm well up for it because I enjoy playing about (safely!) on the road, and a procession of bikes riding in order is no fun.

yes yes the restrictor and sedation would be a great idea. you might get that sedated i might be in luck, big boy

i agree about the group thing and overtaking i'm on about the dozy blighter's that are out by their own with a bubble round them.

You forgetting about Nathan fallout?

He roams around the group like a little lost sheep at times.

If I had someone faster behind and was trying to ride fast I'd wave them past and give chase, not to be the big man but to try and learn from them.

Get a faster bike so you do a flyby at 170 on the straight, that'll show them.
