I think the fact that doing a wheelie in safe conditions (for example) and racing down the wrong side of the road in an urban environment are considered anything like the same class of offence is a serious flaw.

And on top of that, the law gives no recognition to the vast difference in damage a 170kg bike will do compared to, say, a 2,300kg BMW X5. And drivers of said blingmobiles can drive like utter tw*ts safe in the knowlege that they'd have to be very unlucky to get hurt in a crash with 'normal' vehicles.

Understand Luckypants' point but for me it's not about the tariff set by the judge, it's the sentencing guidelines in the first place that are the issue.

Think the introduction of Ralph's points-based execution system is long overdue...

This is terrible we have all been pr*cks in our cars or on our bikes at some point but doing this is madness and i think they should have been given a lot longer sentence.

Its story's like this that make me think why wasn't i going towards them in my artic when this happened instead of the guy on his bike.

Pound to a penny he would have got his sh*tty little mini out the way of 44 ton.

Strange then that someone who should know, cops to the correct offence

Horrific.. 16 months after ruining someone's life just isn't enough

Far too lenient, dangerous driving shouldnt carry too greater sentence as it will make our prisons burst but the offence where there is injury linked because of it, then it should be a longer sentence.

I've done some stupid stuff in my cars over the years, especially in my 20's, looking back I was lucky I didn't get involved in any accidents, but I didn't do stuff as bad as these two.

There is a fine line between going fast and having fun to be a dangerous driver/rider, as LP said, careful what you wish for.

I know someone who overtook in a car, skidded and had a head on with a woman, killing her. He was in jail for less than 2 years. With that as a yardstick I'd say this sentence seems fair.

Hopefully they are castrated as part of their sentence though.

They do it a lot on the main road round here. These are Asian youths, who don't care, do it during the day.........outside a school where all their brothers and sisters attend. Thankfully I have witnessed it happening, when behind them whilst on my bike. Thankfully I have been in the Landy when faced with one of them heading at speed towards me on my side of the road. They dont move for you either, so you really have to swerve and hope there's enough room around the parked cars. They usually start at the top of the road following each other, then split and race when they get to small pedestrian island and the road widens for them to race.


It's a disgrace. Putting an enforced 20mph limit isn't going to make a difference either. Just waste tax payers money.


On another note. Maybe its just the men folk, but the phrase 'we've all done silly things', doesn't fit all of us.
