Default Re: How to make a Curvy backfire?

If you get it wrong (using the killswitch) the backfire can be drawn back in to the exhaust valves and detonate in the cylinder on the fuelling phase.

TBH Injected bike pop and bang more than my Curvy does, and mine can throw silly amount of fuel out on the overrun. If the exhaust gets stupidly hot (meaning you have completely thrashed the **** out of it), it can cause the unburnt air/fuel to detonate

Yeah not really keen on using the switch though on a lot of bikes the over run can be just as poppy.

Difference is that you are filling your exhaust with mix and igniting it using the killswitch method, where as overun is to my understanding more about the far less compressed mix burning too slowly and finishing the burn in the pipe.

Remembering as the compression pressure goes up, the mixture burns faster so in the case of overrun the mix burns too slowly and is sent out the exhaust port before the charge is burnt fully and finishes burning in your exhaust.

I had a guy on an r6 when I was younger I still remember his face lol, riding up and down Belmont road hitting the killswitch pretending he had a gun lol, stupid but very funny back in the day

On my curvy I rev it on the limiter and it does it... petrol wouldn't be burning right as the engine would be switched on an off and then the excess fuel ignites in a bang... nice in the tunnel when a mate is riding behind

Can't cause much damage as I remember on top gear an Audi (I think) sprays and ignites fuel in the exhaust to give off a nice noise when changing gear.
