195 miles on 16 litres is only 55mpg so really not that exceptional. In fact that sort of economy is quite easy to get on an SV if you aren't absolutely caning it or doing loads of town/city riding.

2002 SV naked California model, with 20,500 miles on it

120 miles to the warning light
~155 miles range (never rode beyond that)

i normally get in the region of 130-140 before the light comes on flashing, doing fairly normal road riding, but doing solid motorway miles/long distance trips the best i've had is about 190 before the light and done over 200 before then filling up (that was during a trip through france on the way back to catch the ferry)!

Worst I managed was 101 miles from brimmed to it coughed farted and stopped. Best I managed was about 63mpg on a part tank which would suggest 225mi absolute range.

My best was 64.8mpg - 191 miles on 13.43l of fuel. This translates to 228 miles max range.

Normally I expect the first warning light around the 140 mark.

I did once fit 15.5l in the tank after riding 220 miles on the Scottish north coast - was getting pretty worried in the last few miles!

It depends a lot on the condition of the bike too - mine hadn't really been looked after when I bought it and I was getting about 110mi from full to light coming on (albeit mostly short, hilly journeys, some motorway) after changing the plugs, oil & filter. I changed the chain & sprockets and that went up to about 130-odd; cleaned out the carbs and fitted a new exhaust last week, done 130 (fairly enthusiastic country road and some town) miles since and there's still fuel sloshing about in the tank.

Make sure you connect the fuel sender back up after you take carbs off... that's always a nasty surprise!

I'm on a 2000 Curvy, tend to get 160 to 170 from a tank.

Ha yeah bet it would be. I hooked mine back up only to find one of the little fuel hoses had split - had to buy 1m of injector hose from halfords to replace all 2" of it!

Imperial gallons, right? (Seem to remember there was some difference.) I have never even gotten close to that, usually about 45mpg (US). Also depends on your definition of "caning"; I don't pull wheelies, but do accelerate until the front end gets light, and shift between 8-9KRPM. Most of the miles are freeway.
