If it doesn't spin... no speedo. But no other issues really.

Usually caused by tyre fitters not lining the tangs up properly on reinstallation.

Yeah, a little brown bakelite cylinder with 4 tangs stuck up out of it. Or more likely a little brown bakelite cylinder and a load of broken shrapnel in there!

Repaired mine on Tuesday

While looking at the bike from the front, on the right hand side follow the fork down and you'll see a cable feeding a black rounded unit on the inside of the wheel.

This is the Speedo sensor, when you pull the wheel spinal out it separates from the wheel.

Inside the housing of the sensor is a small cylinder with 4 prongs
(unless it's naff ), this part separates from the housing.
This piece is called the "speedo sensor rotor", it's a magnet and the prongs line up with similar indents inside the wheel.

Hardest part is propping up the front wheel, otherwise it's a simple swap.
Got mine through Suzuki, 24 hour delivery for £20.
Judging by the broken rotor that crumbled out of my speedo sensor, unofficial types are available. But comparing old to new, the Offical Suzuki part was of a higher quality and had a snug fit inside the sensor.

Old (No surprise why it's wasn't working)

New

Suzuki part number: 34983-21e00

I rather doubt that, I suspect the more recent parts are not of completely identical design, they are of course dimensionally similar, and made of a similar material.

As it's made of a relatively soft material, once it's damaged I'm sure the remains get a battering as the fragments swirl around in there.

Cheers for the correction Sid.
More reason to be careful when taking the front wheel off in future.
