Picture was grabbed from sv rider site and looks like the spacer has been loosened and moved out as he had a snapped rear mount bolt doh! so your one is more than likely fine, but then again i am a mechtard

When you install the motor you have to line up spacers at 3 or 4 places on the left side of the engine they start out wide as per Geodude's svrider pic, then are moved to touch the motor on the right, then the bolts are torqued up properly. This means you can fit the engine fairly easily as you're not forcing it into a space that is *exactly* the same width as the motor. You then close the clearance up with the spacers meaning you can torque up the engine bolts without distorting the frame.

So yeah, the spacer should be touching the engine, rather than floating as per the svrider picture which has no engine bolt in it

The reason it's a threaded spacer in a clamp, is because it needs to be able to move laterally to suit the engine/frame specific fitting, they're not all in the same spot - hence some will fit nearly flush, some won't.
