I've put a dent in a top yoke nut trying that, didn't help in the least

Had he correctly inferred from your post which part you were referring to he would not have written the post that he did, but he didn't, so he's utterly and absolutely correct - about a different bit of motorbike entirely.
Shhhh, it'll be fine. Assuming he's not assumed from my assumptions in my post that you don't need the top yoke nut. In which case it won't be fine.

Block of wood and hammer on top unlikely to assist, a small drift used carefully around the periphery of the nut, parallel to the axis of the stem, sometimes does. Clearly the nut may be sacrificed in doing so, but if damage to the stem is to be avoided, (the thread is quite fine), it's a small price to pay.

The object is to shake the threads up a dab, and hopefully break the hold of the corrosion which is causing the nut to be so tight, rather than actually move anything. As stated above heat will help, potions various might also help, but your chances of getting them where they need to be are slim.
