Actually thinking about it I wonder if you could argue that it was the presence of your knee slider on your knee rather than a "mechanically propelled vehicle on a road" that caused damage to his vehicle......so Sect 170 doesn't apply.
Of course if they don't accept that view they would then have to accept his liability around the damage to your knee slider....

Report it, I do if I ever brush someone's mirror which has happened a few times through the years.

Don't make the mistake of letting an opinion on fault interfere with your legal responsibilities.
The point I was making earlier is that Sect 170 is not interested in whose fault the incident was. It very specifically says that if you have caused damage to another vehicle you have to stop and if you don't you commit an offence, period. (there are exceptions but lets keep this simple).

Having stopped there is then an obligation on you to provide details to anybody who has reasonable grounds for having them (usually the other driver). If having stopped there is nobody there to give the details to, for example it is a parked and unattended vehicle, then you must report it to the police as soon as practicable or in any case within 24 hours.

It doesn't make the slightest bit of difference who was at fault in the incident. These things are so much easier to sort out these days anyhow given the proliferation of dash cameras that are about, and they are particularly good at catching motorcycle number plates in filtering incidents.....
