Like the others say. I tend to consider that a bike model will bottom out at a certain price if it's in good serviceable condition, for a curvey somewhere round £1500 maybe. If it's rough then less of course, or even just a pair of tyres is £200 to throw into the equation, but to get more it needs someone who actually wants that particular bike.
Nice machine, you need to find that one person who wants it, but as said by others, you won't get back what you've put into it. Someone once asked me to estimate the cost of renovating an E-type. A back of envelope estimate said he'd be better off buying one which had already been done, let someone else take the hit of pouring money into it.

There are plenty of deluded people trying to sell stock rough as balls curvys for £1600 start a bit higher then you've got room to come down.
