I used to do a 90 mile a day round trip by bike, as Lyn says, it was by far the best way to unwind at the end of the day.

Espescially in bad weather - biking take concentration and so by the time I'd got home I forgotten whatever it was that had been bugging me at work (rather than stewing over it in the comfort of the car).

But then I changed jobs to one 30 minutes walk away from home and a large drop in salary (but a more fun job) and so the bike was sold.

Three years bikeless and now I'm only in it for the pleasure!

I definately don't miss walking like a cripple unable to straighten my left leg for 15 minutes on a really cold day... and getting into the office and sitting with my morning coffee in my hands, with my feet on a hot water bottle under my desk!

ah but the best bit of getting to work is the 10 mins to get gear off...
then go get the hot chocolate and bacon sarnie...
sit down check the mail which is inevitably from posts here and spend the day answering and not doing any work...
before an hour half ride home....

I do a daily 60 mile round trip. Fun in the summer and a pain in the butt during winter months.

Like Howard, I go from West to East London. The car is not a option, the M4 & M40 are just too congested, so if it's not the bike it's the train. What I do notice is that when I get home I'm wide awake, unlike on the train where I just fall asleep as soon as I get in....

Riding to work is good for you, honestly....

I do a 100 mile round trip, taking in the M25 from J10 to J11, but I only do it on the Bike 2 days a week in the warmer weather. I only do the 2 days because I think my nerves would be wrecked if I did the full week with all the idiot drivers out there.
The M25 is bad enough in a car in unpleasant weather, so as said before, respect to all those that do it in all weathers (nutters !)
