It may go worse for him - sure I've read that people serving in the armed forces get the book thrown at them if they get criminal convictions - can get chucked out, court martialled, etc. - much worse than joe public doing the same thing. That's assuming the bit about the Navy means he's serving in it...
At least if he does go to prison, having some experience in the Navy might help him settle in.

'ello sailor...

from playing soldier myself in the TA, i was told that if i commit a crime any time then i can be punished twice for it. the Military can hold a court marshal even if uve been charged and sentensed by the civi police.

however, i believe they normally just go with which ever court gives the worst punishment and leave it at that.

So PyschoCannon gets £350 and two months for 110, why is there so much disparity between sentences?

Do you think this is a case of Navy boy done in Portsmouth gets off light,or is it a repercussion from the speeding copper case?I think that every time a copper or bigwig gets off light (and the papers trumpet it)the courts feel unable to pass heavy sentences on us ordinary mortals for a while.Thats why I was saying that it can be a good thing when "cop gets off at 159 mph".It undermines the kneejerk reaction of high speed=dangerous=prison that those two bikers got last year for 140 odd on an empty road. Both of them lost jobs homes and everything as a result.
