I would like to add that my bike is a naked, and therefore the riding style is more "sat up" because the bars are higher on my model, whereas the faired SV650S versions all have "clip on" style handlebars which droop down more and might make you more cramped?

In the past I have had other bikes like that, and was slightly more cramped.

I've a SVS bendy and i'm 6 foot 3 (13 stone 2) and it's fine up to the two hour mark... then things start to get a bit in need of a break.

jon, two hours of work in any trade deserves a pot of tea and feet up for five minutes. That's great. Almost every single post in this thread proves that the SV is a great bike for a tall person.

More to the point. And possibly more relevent. Which bikes have you tall people been overly uncomfortable on???

Default You'll be fine

My mate(who bought a new SV at the same time as me) is 6'9" and rides it with no prob - He also regularly carries a pillion. As bikes go, It's probably about the best sport bike for you. All the high end sport bikes are way smaller than the SV.
Just jack up the preload and you'll be fine!
At 6' myself, I think the bike fits him better than me!

Slight difference of opinion there fellas!
True, but both as we see it i suppose. If i do longish distances on the sv, it hurts.

Why would that help? The problem is the seat to footpeg distance.

I'm 6'3" and my naked 99 ver is a bit small but after tightening the back suspension and having smaller links (Jack up kit) its much better, still a bit uncomfy on long journeys usually around the hips ankles and knees.

But I've decided not to change her coz its the best bike ive riden. Test rode a Buel lightning and the other one last week but still prefer my 650.

I'm 6'4" and found my naked curvy a bit cramped, but didnt realise how cramped until I started doing something about it.
Mod number one was to raise the seat with a couple of B&Q plastic doorstops fastened to the underside with self-tappers. It doesnt look as odd as I'd feared (That the bike is black might help as it disguises the resulting shadowy gap) and made a big difference.
Mod number two was to swivel the bars away from me a bit - something SVS owners cant do - and that made an even bigger difference.
Mod number three was to fit a pair of bar risers. I only did that a couple of days ago and still havent got over just how big a difference they made - more than the other two combined. I'd been considering doing it for ages but wasnt sure what size to get (Will 20mm be enough? Will 30mm be to much?) and as M&P want an astronomical thirty quid a set for them I couldnt afford to experiment. The ones I got were scrounged from a neighbour with a GSX1100 streetfighter, have a rise of just 15mm but make such a huge difference I would imagine a 30mm rise would feel like ape-hangers!

<--- I'm just under 6'1 with long legs and don't have any problems at all. My SV came with LSL high-rise clip-ons that i don't like much, i'm putting standard (lower) ones on it as soon as they arrive from the States. Don't think it will make things more cramped at all really.

I haven't been on real tours or anything, but an easy 550km in one day wasn't a problem at all, not even for my bum (my SV did come with a Sargent seat though that is firmer)
