Crash bungs, huggers, open pipes, new screens, belly pan, seat cowl it is more like a start than an end. I thought about huggers and crash bungs and get round to it while i'm still waiting. Want to keep it nice Open pipes loud?

nope it isnt a myth! i've got a faired k4 which ran like an absolute pig in the rain.owner of local dealer told me it was a problem with spark plug cap but fitted a fender extender as a goodwill gesture (?). mechanic told me they have had 3 sv's back with same problem!!!! its a good bike though . only problems other than that is forks paint peeling (being sorted under warranty) and one of the chain adjusters (made of tin) spun round and gouged the swingarm! but otherwise a good bike! and yes its true............. black ones are quicker!

That's all right then. Good to run in proper like. As long as I don't have to put up a sign saying running in please pass. I thought running in was sooooo 20th century....sigh. Yes a black motorcycle is nice.

Don';t worry about the front cylinder thing, you don't even need a fender extender to fix it- some find just adjusting the seal works but I didn't. I found a perfect solution though, Maplins (and any other electrical bits place) sell nonconductive, high temperature, waterproof grease, it's £3.99 the tube and lasts for as long as your plugs. Just splatch it around hte plug seal at the top of the cylinder, and bob's your uncle, never worry about it again.

Well, I still find it odd that a modern day motorcycle shouldn't be perfect out of the crate. This is hardly the dark ages. The reason I bought the bike is that it has special compared to other bikes. The Bandit looks oh so bland. also it's the same as a Hornet but with less everything. The SV plays it's own game and still takes on the Hornet, apart from absolute power, and wins. I don't like the looks of the Fazer and having seen a new one looking amazingly rusty i'll pass. The Z750 feels to exposed and like your sat on it rather than in it. The faired one looks awful and the SV looks miles better. The mini-ducati side also appeals. A motorcycle should never be smooth or quiet but loud and vibey. It should feel alive and vibrant. If the SV matches that then I'll be happy. [/quote]

I think you'll find few bikes are perfect out the crate. Most generic makes of bike will have something that you need to keep an eye out for, especially early models of a bike.

And this thing about the water and spark plusg really ISNT a major problem. I think if it were Id have found out by now given the amount of water that my bikes been through in the past year.

Just relax and enjoy the bike.

Some people speculate it was designed to be greased, but that they don't do it in the factory to avoid dust contamination in transit, and it was somehow left out of the dealer assembly list. Don't know how much credability I give that though- the breather hole and the design of the seal both imply it's not supposed to work that way, as does the fact that they keep on trying ineffectual fixes to make it work instead of just doing the grease from the word go.
