Don't see the point for most riders in moving on from an SV to a sports 600, not a big enough step really.
(unless they are a real 600 nut)

Would'nt a Gixxer 750, VFR o r at least a 636/675 make more sense? (bit more 'grunt' on tap...but not as 'full-on' as a Blade/R1/ZX etc..

i cant see why anyone goes to R1,ZX10'S anyhow when modern jap s/sport 600's are as quick and less fuel and insurance.

depends on your situation. the cbrf is bland compared to the sv (i came from the lil 4 to sv) but couldnt imagine touring anywhere near as far on an sv to cbr :cbr-comfort, competent, build quality but like you say, a bit bland.

The latest 600's are 5kg lighter than an SV and have 70% more power so I'd say that was a big enough step by anyones standards especially as my IL4 only cost £800 more new than I paid for my SV!

A 1000 has around 50% more power than the 600 despite being the same weight and of course delivers far more power and torque lower down in the range so thats a pretty big step too.

As to whether you can legally or safely use that extra performance on the road....

The words of someone who doesn't have any experience of 600s.

Bit lost now. The SV is better than a CBR600?

In my experience, the SV is a lumpy commuter that comes alive when thrashed. The more thrashing, the more it comes alive. Suiting a top rider.

Maybe this is what you're after.

There's a pretty big difference, if you want from a bike what a 600 gives. It wouldn't be a big step for everyone, since not everyone is looking for the traits of a SS600. But even leaving aside the power, the difference in handling and braking is immense.

Go have a go on one... not just a 30 minute testride, try and get one out for a couple of hours to get more used to it. They're great. I prefer my SV, all things considered, but that's a matter of personal taste (if the SV was stock, this might be different)

I will vouch for the better acceleration, better brakes, FAR superior suspension on my 636 in comparisson to the SV... a said, its lighter than an SV as well (a few peeps on here have sat on my bike, and will attest to that fact) and has roughly 45 more HP than the SV can spit out. Its far more planted on the road, and handles better at speeds than the SV can get too....
