I have to admit my GPZ had a LOT of insulating tape on it (holding it together....) as well so that added to the wonderful satin blackness of it

How much would it cost to get the job done by a paint shop?
Is it really scarey money?
I know you own an "S" TSM, say all you have is an ordinary SV650. Therefore all that needs doing is a tank, mudguard, and two little side plastics.

Single colour... no messing about, small parts, almost no tapeing. A couple of coats. You can drop the bits off, and pick em up...

I suppose everyone does their own since its so expensive, but it seems like a lot of messing around to do it yourself.

Does anyone have quotes?

I do sortof plan to put all the panels back on one day. Mine is a proper "S" as its got clipons and still has the "S" headlight, so no go dissin my "S" ok!!

I think the cost of all the panels for a S costs in the region of £400+- a tad to a colour match.

If its just satin black then its easy to paint anyway, cans from halfords + a couple of decals from ebay = cheep. Its not to last anyway as i always will get damage on the bike or i may change it again, its also not as if i realy care if its a good job or not, my bike looks a mess at the moment, a lick of paint would probably make it look better even if it was done by a child.

ha ha.. no no, I meant, I know you have an S, which means that you would be paying more for those big panels (?), so it might be sensible to give it a lash yourself. But, if you for instance only owned a SV650 (like me ), maybe then it would be worthwhile to take a stroll down to the local paint shop.

Or does it really make a lot of differance wrt the price. Cause, now that you mention it 400 Stg is a substantial chunk of moola.

It'd make a lot of difference for a naked... Best bet is to get some quotes really, it'll vary depending on the colour you want, and also from shop to shop. If the panels are damaged that adds to the cost, but less panels = less labour and less consumables. Colourmatching costs, but if you do a whole bike then there's no need.

Put it this way, 3 panels painted & fixed cost me in the reigon of £150 ish, cant remember exactly what it was. So a nakid will cost less, prolly abt £250+- a tad.

It may be cheeper to take it to the local car shop and get them to paint it if you are going for diff colour.

I am just going to get some wet&dry, smooth down my panels & paint. I am looking at at matt for all main panels and white for the center bit at the back and the front center, plus mabey a white stripe down the fuel tank if i am brave enough to do it. Still not 100% sure yet.

Stripes are easy enough... Just need some fine line tape and good quality masking tape, I found 3mm was the best to work with the SV's contours, 6mm didn't go well around the lines of the tank. It was a bit fiddly with the drying window of my basecoat, but you wouldn't have that problem. And make sure they're not squint

One, single, off center white stripe might look a bit cool. Running from head to tail.
I dunno. I would have to ponder that over. Might be a duc wannabe.

I had my Curvy S done in 2pac (not the rapper) for £250 - front mud guard, tank, side infills, seat panels and undertray, but I didn't pay full shop price and don't think it was properly colour matched. Probably cost about £175 just for the paint so expect to pay more if you go to a spray shop. I got 2 suzuki laser cut decals for the tank but no other stickers done. Had a Ducati style stripe put down the centre too, didn't fancy the off centre style. but like northy said if you get a stripe make sure it's lined up right, mine's a bit off centre but can't complain for the price I paid.
