I once had one of these clowns in an Evo VI tailgating my SV off a roundabout on a dual carriageway. I accelerated hard from 30 to 100 and pulled away from him more than convincingly.
At that point I thought ok point proved and shut off. But he kept accelerating whilst I was engine braking and undertook me. He then came to the queue at the next roundabout and I sailed past him! Proves that it is not worth messing with these planks as they have no sense and will take any risks. If that guy had of crashed into the back of someone long after I had stopped racing then I could have still faced a stiff punishment or even jail if someone had been killed. I think the SV would struggle full stop against an FQ400 or something. With a standard model like the Evo VI from a rolling start you will be in deep trouble if you do it from 80mph+ as at that speed there won't be much difference in performance. I def wouldn't pull up alongside one at 90 and start trying to race it. My mate had an Impreza P1 which is quicker than the Evo VI at the time I had my SV and when driving the car I found it definitely felt a lot slower than the SV but only up to 90ish. Standing start figures from 0-100 the car does get beaten easy. You really need an SS600 if you want to spank all of those tw*ts in all scenarios though. So yeah I'd swap an SV for one when all things are considered but not my Zixxer in a million years. |

When i had my old GS500E i had an embarrassing defeat to a big Merc saloon that somehow beat me up to 60 or so, then vanished into the distance. The gs aint exactly quick, but a mercedes saloon? Little 4-year-old kid in the back looked so smug as his dad hammered me off the line too
![]() ![]() On the SV though, i havent had anything come even close at "reasonable" speeds, and i wouldnt even think of trying to beat sportscars on roll-on over 70 or so. Usually wouldnt be thinking of "playing" at all at those speeds, but we all have our moments... |

I was out in my hot hatch one night and saw what I thought was large merc join the dual carriageway behind me. I was accelerating flat out in what is a respectably quick car and then this massive tank came flying past me like an SS600 would (well almost). Turned out it was one of those Bentley Continental GT things. 200mph car, bet that would beat my Ninja from a rolling 140mph start too! Anyhow no doubt Merc do something similar. Having a bike doesn't mean you can beat anything and everything on four wheels in all situations, I think you still have to know your cars like the back of your hand (buy Evo magazine or something) and pick your fights carefully at times especially around my way where there are £100,000+ cars flying around! |

my first car v bike racing experience was on my zzr600, on the way home from work one day just merging onto a duel carriage way when a impreza estate thingy pulled along side me at around 40mph i nail'd the kwak up to 100 and then looked in my mirrors to find the scooby doo right behind me

What the heck? The quickest model they do in estate trim is the basic WRX type affair, AFAIK they have never done STi estates?!?
The ZZR600 should make mince meet out of one of them in those circumstance as they aren't any quicker than my hot hatch. Must have been highly tuned is all I can guess, but why do that to an estate! |

I ride to and from work with a mate on a CBR 600, we seem to attract attention
![]() However, we both had very ![]() Today, bloke in BMW M3 wouldn't move over, again on the 'Lancs so at the roundabout, we both went for it. I was parallel with him all the way to 139 mph, then he had the extra 16 mph to his limiter. Not bothered in the least by this fun stuff on dual carriages, but tw*ts who try to play on main roads make life unsafe for us all. Best policy, as mentioned, let them pass, then cruise by serenely in traffic or lights. ![]()

from a stand still a bike will beat just about anything, but from a 40mph roll on a fast car will have the grunt

My dad used to be 2nd overall in the Scottish Rally Championsship back in the 70's and mid 80's. He had late pal (passed away a few years ago) with a brute of a 4wd Escort Cosworth running a T34 turbo amongst other tuning parts, and that Cossie made almost 400bhp.
Lets just say that you wouldn't try and keep up with these two nutters down a fast "A" or "B" road. Sideways powersliding on bends was the order of the day when the coppers weren't around ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dad got a shot of WRX STI Scooby once, and dared a boy on a gixxer 750 to race down a "private" road (18 miles long). Wish I had a videocamera... You don't race a former rally driver in a pukka hooligans machine who knows what they're doing. The rally driver won in the bends, but the gixxer flew past us on the longish straights. Quite an even match. You'd be surprised. The average time for 18 miles over a bendy and fast "a" road was 15 minutes for both crazy pilots ![]() ![]() (Saying no more.......) |
