Well it's enormously exaggerated of course, but there's the inspiration of truth in an upsettingly large amount of it, sadly.

Yup, I'd agree there's truth at the bottom of it. But if you can't make your point without outrageous exaggeration then you don't have a point, IMO

If I must...

The implication is that all people on benefits are just workshy's absurd.

Tell me when you've seen the BBC feature the homeless on the news (since the whole cold and starving riff doesn't apply to the homed).

When did the Labour party last protest about anything? And tell me when Red Ken actually seemed to give a damn about the poor in London. Also, try and connect that to the congestion charge if you can.

Tell me what on earth the part about being taken to court for not employing the grasshopper is about. That's not exaggeration, I'll give you that, it's just made up.

Tell me when you last had your food seized... I presume that's a clumsy tax analogy, but there's no wealth redistribution going on in the UK.

The asylum seeker terrorists, I shouldn't have to talk about, but just in case- obviously relates to the afghan hijackers in 2000. But since (despite widespread disinformation) a public outcry failed to arise over that, they have to be turned into terrorists. Also, instead of fleeing a regime officially so evil that we went to war to remove it, they're running "because they had to share their country of origin with mice". Then, they get turned into thieves into the bargain. Because all asylum seekers are criminals, naturally. "face death by the mice"... Talking here of a country where the US and UK Army isn't safe. Mice. Then they demand compensation, which hasn't happened.

Naturally, all people on benefits are drug addicts.

When did you last see "the usual sections of the press" blame the government for a prison inmate ODing? I

Not exaggerated? There's literally a million exaggerations in it

I see what you're saying, but isn't most humour - particularly that aimed at politics and policies - based squarely on accentuating the dafter parts of those policies and practices? Most of the political stuff that, say, Harry Enfield or Ben Elton did was parody born of exaggeration. "Loadsamoney" for example, an enormous expansion on a supposed '80's ethic, funny though, and does rather make the point don't it?

Yep, don't get me wrong, I think it's very funny... And almost exactly as factually accurate as Loadsamoney (funnier, mind) or Alan Parker Urban Warrior, or Up Pompeii. I've got no beef with exaggeration for comic effect, it's the idea that the thing isn't comic exaggeration that rubs me up the wrong way.

Fair enough, I see where you're coming from.
