You'd be supprised, but then, the stats can be 'adjusted' by simply not putting people forward for tests until they're ready.

The school I did my DAS with claimed something like a 95% pass rate. CBT pass rates were higher than that. However, it wasn't obvious that the stats were adjusted, they were bloody good at what they do.

You might want to position the mirrors so you can't see behind you without moving your head a bit more than usual.

It'll make mirror checks obvious to the examiner so he can't mark you down on not checking mirrors by missing a small head movement.

I was sitting thinking about this last night, I may have been mixing up what my instructor called a look as a Lifesaver. I was wondering why my head was going like a nodding dog on the way to junctions. So the only lifesaver in a standard turn at a junction is just before you turn??? Or do I make one when I change position in the road?

ummm. my first comment was probably a bit unrelated to what you were asking.

IIRC what I was told on my DAS, Lifesavers, looking over your shoulder, are used when for big changes of direction - changing lanes, joining from a sliproad, passing a parked car, moving off, and junctions, etc.

Mirror checks for slowing down and checking behind you every so often, etc.

The best thing to do is to ask your instructor to confirm as he is the one trained to get you through your test.

When i'm on the scoot i'll always give the LS at a junction and when i'm changing lanes. I'm out again at the weekend so hopefully it'll all be clear by then.

Default DID SOME ONE MENTION PASSRATES ?

I am sure they did well lets clear this up, no one can pass or fail a cbt cos its not a test people must complete the training to a safe level and show competence during the road session and assesment then there is the DAS/Retricted pass rate as mentioned perhaps they dont put people in for the test if they dont think they have any chance of passing they then proberly charge them for extra training until such time they deem them fit for it.

I have only ever refused to put 1 person in for there test in all the years i have been teaching, he did pass first time after an other weeks training which i didnt charge him for and when i do cbts for people many do not even get out on the road the first time and have to return for another attemp again free of charge.

Approching a minor to major road junction/left turn
1. left mirror
2.left life saver turn on left signal
3. move postion
4.slow down change down approach give way lines in 1st gear
5.second life save to the left
6. look right if the road is clear look left check exit is clear and turn left with out stopping after all its a give way line isnt it? if it is a stop line then stop with foot down look both ways then exit the junction

I f you do not have time to do this your going to fast on the approach to the junction

go luck
