I know loads of anecdotal family story stuff, but I'd be stuck on the scientific detail. I know, for instance,that he 'invented' rayon and the stuff that's now called lycra. It was called something else before it was bought by XXXX (Dupont?) and my Dad invented it. He was a brilliant technician but lousy business man! I'm not making it up, honest! Courtaulds, then Carrington Vyella - look it up.
Granddad was a silk weaver

He hated bikes tho! ( or maybe just his daughter riding them)

My Dad was part of the team that worked out how to dye nylon (and other man made fibres) black. They had real trouble with that in the 60!
