Thought it wouldn't be long, as long as it has the desired effect that's all that matters.

so that's why you squished your finger(s) on the zed

Depends how I'm riding really. Full out blat is 2 fingers, mainly to blip. Steady bimble & usually 4.

That's what I do. Find it easier to blip the the throttle between thumb and forfinger while braking with outside three. Each to his own I guess.
