I like it, I don't know who'll want one except for the restricted license young riders, but it should easily pass the 33bhp mark and won't need thoroughly strangling to duck under it, plus it's bound to be lighter than most bigger bikes.
Wow, looks pretty cool i think. not sure i'd ever want to own one but i guess if you're on a restricted licence then fair enough. Also in places like Austalia i think learners can ride a 250, so could be going for that market.

From the Yank site - the 2007 Ninja250

Quote:
2007 Kawasaki NINJA 250R

KAWASAKI NINJA® 250R GIVES SPORTBIKE PERFORMANCE ON A LIMITED BUDGET

Smallest Ninja handles better than most superbikes

The Kawasaki Ninja® 250R offers a rare combination of compact size, low purchase price and excellent performance. It continues to be among those motorcycles at the top of the sales chart. Actually, there are several reasons why consumers flock to the sporty styling of this particular motorcycle. The Ninja 250R provides easy-handling agility, a lightweight presence, and ownership costs that make this model a force to be reckoned with when shopping for a motorcycle in the entry-level sportbike category.

Power for the Ninja 250R comes from a high-revving, liquid-cooled, in-line twin-cylinder four-stroke engine featuring dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. It delivers smooth, predictable power that’s perfect for new motorcyclists, yet its 13,000-rpm redline and six-speed transmission will put a smile on the face of the most experienced sportbike rider. As if the Ninja’s excellent engine performance wasn’t enough, its rider will also be amazed by the nearly 70 mpg average fuel economy.

Like its larger siblings, the Ninja 250R sportbike features an aerodynamic full-fairing, Kawasaki’s UNI-TRAK® progressive rear suspension and high-performance disc brakes. It also has a low seat height for added confidence when stopped. Other features include an easy-to-read instrument panel, positive neutral finder, centerstand and pop-up bungee hooks.
And it looks like this

Anyone spot what it REALLY is?

I think we keep the Ninja name for ZXR's as said even the ZZR1400 is a Ninja in the US

The old GPX250 is a stonker!! My mate in Bodmin rides one and for those of you that are doubting the fun factor, it's amazing! The bike is so light that it's a crotch rochet! My mate took me on the back and we hit 95mph between speed bumps on his estate. The sound is amazing too, with micron exhausts it is louder than R6's, fazer thous and several cruisers that were there.

If they do a good job of improving the suspension etc then this bike will be a hit and I'd love to have one to "play" with at the w/e.

I sold my old GPX 750R recently and when you look at the photo in the earlier posts you'd have been struggling to tell them apart from a distance. The styling looks exactly the same, screen, seat everything. The gpx was badged up as a ninja, in fact I think it was the first one, the bike was a 1986 model and was brought out at the same time as the first ZXR750. I had the bike for 7 yrs, covered 20,000 miles on it and sold it for £800 less than I paid. It ran as sweet as anything, sounded very throaty with a real induction roar to it and had screw and locknut adjustable tappets so you could service it yourself. Would have kept it but just hadn't the space in the garage and couldn't really justify keeping hold of it having just spent out to buy a new SV's.

Alan.

250's maybe a bit too small, but if it's a step towards a modern, lightweight 400 class then bring it on... Today's R6 weighs less than a VFR400R, apparently- so I want to see what they can do with modern techniques and a small engine design, for power and for weight. That's what I really wanted when I got the SV, but the 4s are all old enough to be my dad (if we lived in some strange manga)

Put me down for a 2009 RVF400RR or Aprilia RS450.

i think this is a great idea for new comers to biking and there is certainly a hole in the market for this sort of thing, i mean rs250s where nice but not practical or easy to ride.
