As for actually paying, it sucks but is needed
thats so they spend all the money so next year they will get given the same amount or usually more

There WILL be hospitals, just no NHS!! Isn't that how it works in other countries? People get health insurance, or pay-as-you-go ... its very simple ...

Not quite - have you looked how expensive it is in other countries? Why do you think we get all the health tourists?
(EG a friend of mine pays $600 per month health insurance in the states, just had major surgery and aftercare on his stomach - he still has to stump up $40,000 for 'incidentals' )

Armed forces is a bit more tricky ... some people might want to pay in, but the big question is "do we really NEED them these days anyway?" Ok, so we have poked our noses in elsewhere, but when is the last time we were 'invaded' and needed to protect ourselves????

Or we could have a smaller mandatory tax to cover defense and the handful of gov officials required to make the 'cogs' turn, but able to 'opt out' of stuff that is more 'individual' like schooling, benefits, policing, NI etc
I would be satggeringly better off under your leadership, but it just wouldn't work.

Because it's not as simple as 'your kids, they have no benefit to me, you pay'.
Direct benefits from kids going through school is they'll get jobs when they leave, they'll pay tax and contribute to your pension! (if Brown hasn't already stolen it)

Less obvious reasons for everyone contributing to education is (other than not wanting hordes of illiterate scallies roaming the streets... ok, even MORE illiterate scallies!) that if parents had to foot 100% of their children's education bill, then most simply won't be able to afford to have kids. The resulting rapidly declining population would be a disaster!

Blue - cos you keep crashing you cost the NHS a fortune so I think you should pay double

And for daring to express dissenting views you can pay triple

Hmm, well I looked at pay check last month over £900 was taken in tax, student loan etc! I do wonder sometimes where it all goes!

It won't work paying for part of bits of it, bascailly the government waste all our money on ****, if road and fuel tax was spent on the roads they they would be in better shape.....but they spend all the money on going to war where we have no right being.

There was talk in the news a while back about a fat tax, where fat people have to more into the NHS becasue they cost more to look after medically, i'm up for that I'm under weight so it won't affect me.

It only gets better as people my age get to our 40/50s all our parents will be retired and there will be more retired than working in this country should be intereting. I think tax will be going up.....

Blue---What an absolutely brilliant idea.

Unfortuneatly, like Communism,Thatcherism,Multiculturalism and every other ism you can name it would be a disaster in practise.Shall we call it Bluism?

Courtesy of Google

"The independent countries with the least income tax are Bahrain and Qatar, where the rate, regardless of income, is zero.
For both nations, oil is the backbone of the economy, providing over half of governmant revenues.

Yep, and people die of preventable illnesses, or work 2 jobs to pay for the medication to keep them alive. Look at me, I couldn't get health insurance in the states, not for any price. One of the SV Riders lay in hospital with a burst liver while the administrators checked his insurance details...

There would be schools... But they'd be s***. Universal education is hugely expensive and hugely beneficial, unless you want 90% of the next generation to not be able to count.

Opt out of road tax because you don't have a car... Is the food you eat delivered to the shops by helicopter?
