Keeping it as compact and removable from the tail is one thing to consider. Id go with the battery pack being seperate or connected to the bike battery with a fly lead. Also having a universal mount so u multitude of devices can be used. Not just a go pro.

I think that the best way of mounting the Servo unit to the bike is to use the gopro mounts, why reinvent the wheel for that bit.

Essentially, the servo can just be supplied with its original horn (The plastic star shape) which can then be affixed to whichever camera you want to using whatever method you like. Trying to make something that works for everyone will be a nightmare.

Also there will have to be a weight limit on the camera when using it directly bolted onto the servo output.

I will try to come up with two options if people want it.
1) The bare bones. electronics inc board, servo, 4x AA or AAA battery holder + optional length cables. To be package and affixed to bike however you like. Setup ready to go.

2) Some packaging included, like one battery & control cox combined, flying cable with optional lengths and gopro mounted servo unit. Mount for gopro cameras optional, otherwise just use the horn for camera attaching.

Prices I'll have to add up in the next few days.

I will be testing mine tomorrow morning. Fingers cross I don't kick it off the bike when swinging me leg over!

So here it is, "Redmist's Rossi cam thingy: 2.0"

Forecast is good for a morning test tomorrow.

Control box will Velcro onto the tank for testing, normally would go under the seat.

Servo cable is long enough to reach front or back positions for the camera.

Battery will be strapped to the top yoke for testing.

Sooo its looking like the £12 servo is suffering too much with the GoPro.
I'm going to be testing my much lighter keychain style cam on the way home.

If thats ok, then the hunt for a stronger servo will begin.

Update:

Now using a Metal geared, high torque servo. Camera control much better.
However I'm still waiting to test it out with the camera on the tank of my CBR. (Rather than the bouncy tail)
I have managed to borrow a clear screen for the CBR off a work mate who had one lying around so I'll fit that in place of my black one and re-test.

Also I now have the necessary stuff to re-write certain parts of the software running on the board so that I can fine tune it for Motorbike applications, i.e. Ignoring jolts from bumps in the road.

Hope to finally have footage for you soon.
