I don't have this particular brand of TRE (Timing Retard Eliminator) but I do have one from Ivan's Performance Products here in the USA.
I think that there is a little bit more power on the first half of the tachometer and at smaller throttle openings, but it's just that: A little bit. Nothing that'll knock your socks off, at least on my SV-650K7. I think I'd do it again because I like knowing my timing is not retarded, but just don't expect too much. Without a doubt, I'd fit top-notch tyres, first. |

Can't say how many miles I'd a' gotten out of the stock Dunlop D220s because I took them off before a week was up.
Just didn't like them and knew there were much better ones (like Michelin Pilot Powers). |

The way to do it to a pointy involves one small resistor worth about 4p

Just seen this thread. can't believe my v-twin is restricted! need to try this one. Does anyone know what the product code for the resistor is? Did a search on maplins site, could't find it.

It's not restricted as such, there's probably less than a bhp in it in gears 2 and 3, if that.

I read somewhere that engine braking is less and acceleration is smoother. Is that true?

No
A few degrees (if that) of advance won't affect engine braking noticeably. Acceleration may be smoother, but I wouldn't bet on it. Some engines are "happier" with a bit more advance. It really is a small amount of power added on the 650, marginal difference. Unlike the raptors and TLs, which go a bit nuts with TRE on them
