anyone got any ideas on how the pinlock anti-fog thing works, and if it causes glare/reflection at night?
It is basically double glazing if you like. I love it. It never steams up, and I mean never, ever. Shoei recommends not to use it at night due to glare. I have never had any problems day or night. I love it.

I tried on quite a few different helmets when I came to get another at the start of the year. For the money the CL-ST that I got was a great fit and has given very little in 6000miles of use, and it's still a good snug fit. Used in all weathers and trackday once as well. The only grumble that I have with it is the top visor seal sometimes leaks in heavy rain a lets a dribble down the inside of the visor. Other than that it's been a top lid.

If I had more cash spare I would've gone for a Shoei again. The fit and finish on them is very good and they seemed to suit my head shape well, unlike arai. Crashed tested the shoei as well, big thumbs up for protection.

I have a HJC CL-14, i paid £100 for it, for the price it was spot on, it fitted perfectly, never steams up, has vents that work....and is still comfertable and snug after alot of miles, i love it!

i have had AGV's and KBC lids in the past, decent lids but i find teh HJC better.

i do like shoei's tho, when the budget allows i will get one. mates of mine swear by them,i like the designs too!

I'm on my second XR1000 in 24K miles, for me a great lid. although it pains me to admit it I agree with Hovis, try em on, what fits is best. Good luck.

When I first got the SV in sep 2006, I bought an HJC fliptop CLMax from Busters. It was fine but noisy as hell.

In November 2007 a small spring from the vizor pivot nonsense sprung out. So I tried to get another one but had to order a replacement Vizor hinge set(both sides - £29.99). Wont get it until later this month.

Went to the NEC in Dec (or was it Nov?) and bought a Shoei Multitech. Still noisy and the large fits me snug as opposed to the HJC XL (I know! Big Head!)..

I haven't fitted the double glazing whatsit yet and the fogging is really bad.. But I really like the feel of the lid..

?

I have a shoei raid II. I like it, felt very light to start with before i got used to it. The vents are ok, but on my next helmet I think I'll look for one with some at the back, so that the air can flow through the helmet.

Pinlock is a plastic insert with a bead of silicon around the edge. It is held in place by two pins. Works like double glazing and really doesn't steam up.

Only problem is when you are crouching down behind the fairing you have to look up through the edge of the insert and seal which blocks the view a bit.

I should really remove mine in the summer, and just leave it for the winter, but somehow never got round to it!

You can get tinted pinlock inserts too. IMO they can be changed even more quickly than a quick release visor, and they are smaller to carry around.
