Good on you. Breaking the stereotype must really put a smile on your face. (or is that too many margaritas)
Deep fried mars bars are only for the tourists! So's the stereotype. Keeps people coming

Seriously. We had one barrel in and after a week taken off with a do not order any more noted in my tasting notes. T'is a cross between a nasty mild with a nasty bitter. It was far too rough to even be anything near a pint of mild.

I like my beers. However, I have noticed of late there are certain beers I do not like. Some taste too sweet, too hoppy, too bitter. etc. Beer is a personal taste. It only took me 20 years to enjoy a pint of Holt's. Now there is a pint of the beer connoisseur

Rough? You must have got a dodgy barrel. It's normally very smooth. The first time that I tried it was at the Great British Beer festival in 2000. My mate declared it to be one of the best beers he'd ever tasted and we were not at all surprised when it won Supreme Champion Beer of Britain that year. According to the Morehouse website it's won many other awards, including:

Gold medal - International Brewing Awards 2004 (& silver in 1982 and 1992)
Double Gold medal - International Brewing Awards 1998
Silver Champion Beer of Britain - 2001 (& bronze in 2002)

Not bad, eh? You should give it another chance.

And to bring the thread back on topic, I'm currently sipping an 18 year old Talisker single malt from the Isle of Skye, as a nightcap.

Just finishing off the last of my Bruichladdich. I like my Islay malts and got a yet another cask strength Laphroaig waiting to be beaten into submission.

BTW tonight's last pint was witches cauldron. Or as I ordered it witches tit as in flat as....

I'll probably go for a Laphroaig once I've finished off this bottle of Talisker.

About 10 years ago, London CAMRA had a 'Beerwitched' festival where they got in as many beers with witchy names as they could. I did have a pint glass from it somewhere.

I've never understood the phrase 'flat as a witches tit'. Being very well acquainted with the (usually ample) mammaries of occulty young ladies, I'd have to say that it's exceedingly inaccurate
