Well, it starts of the original Z's and goes onto GPz AND GPZ (and means Grand Prix) - then the GP got dropped as old hat.....but the Z was kept cos' it sounded cool and had history..........why the X? it also sounds "cool" (and they also made some GPX models. briefly!).........and now we come to the "R", which accross brands used to get tacked onto the end of a bike name to show that this was a "sporty model" and was "Race bred", ie GPZ1000RX (or was that a GPz1000RX??!) and GPZ750R (not to be confused with the earlier GPz750 - which also had a Turbo model - not as fast as the name suggests, but very comfy!)........for reasons of brevity and boredom the "R" move before the CC number.

Dunno where the Hyphen comes from..........

no you got it all wrong...Mr Suzuki visited England when he invented the SV,,,he tripped over one of those metal plates in the road or off a wall that 'SV' on it...he got stuck for what to call it and he thought

Haha, when I got my bike I noticed that SV on drains everywhere.

I know that the 'RR' at the end of CBR 600/900 RR stands for Race Replica... but can't for the life of me remember what the beginning bit stands for.

Honda car wise I know that CRV & FRV stand for Complete Recrational Vehicle and Family Recreational Vehicle respectively.
