My SV did too. My Tiger looks like it's going to run away, the speed the rear wheel whizzes round in neutral with the engine running.

I always lube the chain this way. Most chain lubes come with a wee red tube that fits in the spray nozzle same as on a can of WD40. It's about 4 inches long, your fingers don't need to get anywhere near the chain.

Good or bad for the engine/transmission I don't know, but when I'm finished and ready to take the bike of the stand I just kick the sidestand down and the engine cuts out. It needs to be down for coming off the stand anyway.

You could always just turn the engine off and wait for everything to stop...

Also reduces likelihood of any trouser-leg>chain interference...

Mine always does when cold, or when the clutch cable needs adjusting and the bite is right back at the bar. Usually notice gear selection getting stiff and neutral hard to find if thats the case though.

Scottoiler don't come wiv a 'wee red tube' lol! Nor did the Holts ****e I put on before I knew any different.
