If you're talking one of the "K" series then the disc brakes are "early" type and not all that hot, even becoming fairly useless in the wet

for a start you have to answer what is a "classic", but as you say 50's/60's then the suspension will be fairly basic and the frame will play a large part in handling as well as the way you ride it (think Triumph bonnie/Norton Domme/BSA A65 Lightning), if however you are looking for a more relaxed pace with that look but less maintinance then the more moden retros are goood and work well, but all require a smooth style and aren't as forgiving as the SV.

Cheers Mark.

Again, Classic ? ambiguous term, and I wouldn't get an LC for a less hectic time than the SV anyway, wonderful machine, but to get the most out of it, you have to work and really quite hard at that.

don't get confused, in everythin but the most limited of situations a moden SS6 will eat the LC for breakfast, although it must be said the general standars of the hobbiest riding them plays a big part .

Cheers Mark.

the most memorable bike i ever rode was a kwawasaki kh750 (the widow maker), very fast but was like riding if i remember right a wet sack of taties round corners bounced all over the place and i swear i could feel the frame flex under me. but that was a long time ago.

very very rare now coz most of them got crashed.

Arrrh memories, had an S3 myself, but at one point did have the H1 barrels fitted (400cc to 500cc), great fun, and yes Kawasaki did manage to hide the rubber hinge in the frame quite well, you could feel it but never find it

Indeed, however it’s an original 81 model. Of course if it were a "proper" rider then id have no chance however id say 70% of bikers don’t know how to ride their bikes properly and simply buy them for a willy extension...

You don’t have to work her THAT much actually and totiling round town is fine.

no doubt you're right bikes are more a fashion statement than anything else, was just remembering the old "battles" between the 250LC's and the X7's, brilliant times

Throttling out every last drop you could, chin in the tank ar*e in the air, elbows in you ribs, those were the days, not to mention no scameras and the old bill would just tell you off and send you on your way with a flea in your ear...

Cheers Mark.

somewhat earlier in my case, but then it's always the way, I missed out on the biking thing of the 50's & 60's my old man used to tell of midnight burnups, going down the original Ace, fights down the coast with Mod's and all that, the gang mentality has pretty much gone now, but I caught the end of all that, Even the fraturnity thing is somewhat diluted these days and only remembered by a few of us still around, times change and all that.

I still hang out from time to time with some old boys (70/80 year olds) and whether time has exaggerated their tales or not I really don't care, but they are wonderful to listen to.

Cheers Mark.

Triton - problem solved.

And there's still people that make them I think, so shouldn't be as difficult to get hold of as some other classics.
