the extreme cooling is only needed to created the superconducting effect to create the massive magnetic fields required to bend the paths of certain particles, because by observing the speed and bend of a particle you can assess it's properties by the way it reacts to magnetic fields

the temperature claims are based on the energies involved, which for particles are absolutely massive, however because they're concentrated in such a small volume there's not much total energy to dissipate as heat, each particle collision has about the same energy as two mosquitos colliding

Ive read some of Stephen Hawkings books and thought I was getting a handle on some of the simpler stuff, then decided to attempt ''paralell worlds'' by michio kaku, now thats a head**** if you want one.
