I got taught this when i was learning, least they said use the rear brake to help you turn a little bit more if necessary.

you can get out of pretty much any tightening corner on the road by just using your safety margin and leaning further, it's saved me a handful of times in the last couple of years. i don't know if i'd want to be concentrating on the brake when i should be concentrating on making the corner - too much danger of stamping on it and ending up sliding off the road shirley?...

Think I would go from your neutral throttle to a negative throttle first before dragging the brake.
edit oops, reread & you said all that oh well, QFE ![]() Last edited by Stu; 02-03-09 at 06:48 PM. |

i know what you said to do, and what you do, but back then the first time i had that feeling of "**** I'M NOT GOING TO MAKE IT" if i'd have started thinking about dragging the back brake i'd either have panicked and stamped on it, or more likely ridden into the hedge before i'd thought to drag it, moved my foot and even made contact with the pedal...

![]() It does work and if you practice it in a non emergency situation it'll become something that you find easier to do when you need to. Its saved me a few times, along with your technique of leaning a bit more...

another good tip is to ride your favorite lanes time and time again that way you dont get any nasty hairpin bends and stuff, when u get faster and smoother it will just feel right, the lines you take will just seem to flow into each corner and you'll feel confident and safe.

i am going against what others are saying, or least not saying. i use the clutch to corner if need be, i was also instructed to use it whilst doing my DAS.
in reflection to your question, if your getting jittery, or flutterbies while cornering you ARE going to fast. slowly work your speed as your confidence grows. safely. |
