crash bungs won't protect the lower fairings, having had a good sit down talk with dangerous dave on the subject last year i would follow his advice and go for motosliders over r&g. they will protect the engine and frame a lot more, and these are the most expensive parts.

Engines are tough enough, radiators on the other hand...

thanks for the answers.
they look OK, to bad that they're quite expensive for me right now

do you have any idea of what materials are used for the sliders? and can one of you (who has on) give me the exact dimensions (total length of the bolt, the thickness and the length of the slider, ect.) because I'll try to make one on a lathe.

The sliders are usually made from Delrin which is a hard Nylon , if you are going to make them on a lathe I would suggest having quite a thick base and the walls as thick as possible , your weak points are going to be where the wall meets the base and the head of the bolt if it isn`t the correct tensile strength so I would have a long hard think about it , you could end up junking a frame in a minor spill if you don`t build enough strength into the design and have the right amount of weakness at the same time to absorb an impact if you understand .

I would machine a radius at all points where there is a difference in size to provide less of a right angle and provide a bit more resistance to sheering forces .

yes I understand, that's why I would like to use the dimensions of the motoslider sliders.
I guess the look something like this:

so if any of you have a motoslider and a calliper, please give me the dimensions.

I would have a shallower Radius between the 2 bores , smooth it out a bit

Ok, but can you explain what do you mean by "shallower radius" ?

The section circled in Red , look at it compared to the section underneath it , it has a shallower Radius
