Rear subframe, seat, side panel, tool box location are all different for sure as is the fact the fuel warning light doesn't go through the flashing stage on a k3, have also read somewhere that footpegs are different. Also the mirror stalks on a k3s(faired) are usefully an inch longer than later models.
I personally prefer the stance of the k3 with the higher back end, but then I would say that!

Mechanically, you're less likely to have issues with the 07 than the 03, unless the 03 has been stored perfectly.

ive got a k3 no probs to report sofar love it, i do regular oil/filter changes it gets riden to and from work (40 miles round trip twistes and m/way) in all weathers i think the silver frame looks beter than the black. good luck with your purchess

They're both alloy frames and they're both painted. Just one is painted silver.

I have a k3 and higher back end is better on the eye..would go for k7 as later resale value would be better as its newer

Doesn't change the fact that the silver frames of the K3s and K4s are much nicer. The half-a-job on the K5s and beyond really does look a bit cheap, especially under inspection - despite the fact that the main frame is actually a nice paint job I think.
