Put fuse as close to battery as you can. This means switch after fuse.

all done all working..
switch under pillion next to the socket.. what a pain though.. was a coiled wire! with them fused together ha.. and I had already thread it through from front to back so had to take it all out and follow the live wire down... actually probable made it easier doin it on the bench then feeding it all back through.. didnt get a marine switch.!! but put some heat shrink on and then some almalgamting tape loks a neat job.. will see what happens if it rains.. and when I wash the bike. thanks all.. now got to find where my switch live to the rear light is ............. to and the autocom.... |

Personally, i would have put a relay in working off a switched live off ignition, cant go wrong then, same for cars, boats or whatever.
Will only work when ignition is on and relay will control switching of it. Here's a link to my thread regarding mine. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=137700 Last edited by Specialone; 27-12-09 at 05:21 PM. |

i appear to have found this thread a little late but here's for any one wanting to install electrical gadgets the bike, take a look through the following....
http://www.powerletproducts.com/ basically you can install a power let point or cigarette lighter connection to the bike, which means anything from a sat nav to heated clothing to a phone charger can be simply plugged in and run off the battery if it has the connection. Since buying the sprint ive found it has a power let point fitted as standard which is handy ![]() ![]() HPH |

I've one on my 9R Kwak. I used it to power air pumps for blow up beds whilst camping, charge up mobile phones, and have constant 12v power for my bike camcorder when in use. Every bike should have a 12v accessory plug as standard.. very handy item.
Mine is constant 12v all the time wired to the battery, with the live via a 10amp blade fuse located near the battery. Hasn't blown one yet. One shall be going onto the hack bike shortly for my heated vest ![]() ![]() |
