Oh I'll get off my high horse then. Yes the biker at fault as I said. But it all happens so fast. he sees the car indicate to overtake. He was not in the best position to prevent the car from doing that. He brakes I'm not sure how committed he was to aborting the overtake.

Not too much outrageous behavior before hand

Or is there a responsibility on behalf of the motorcyclist to ensure that they overtake in a manner which doesnt, buzz, spook, or frighten the occupants of the vehicle they are overtaking ?

i have had the living daylights scared out of me before, blokes going past at 160 on their GSXR's while im already doing 90, and overtaking on a dual carrigeway

its frightening, but i didnt stop. I was shaken though

A sad story, its not nice for someone to die, but come on....at those speeds? its not responsible ownership of a motorcycle. We all have moments like that (im not saying im perfect) but there are better places to do that kinda stuff, a single-lane carrigeway isnt one of them
Tbh couldn't have said it better myself.. maybe it's better he did go before he killed more people possibly?

Either way it's totaly silly and stuipd of him to do such a thing!

Damn, shows how fast and how bad things can go...
I guessed correctly that the bike was "pushed" into the oncoming traffic, however blamed the wrong person for it. I thought it's one of those headlines in which the biker was made to look guilty because he was on a bike, like the IoW newspaper letter.
I think both of them shouldn't have been overtaking there.

Ride safe.

I think we've all be overtaken by bikes that 'came out of nowhere' and the first thing we knew was when they passed us. A bike can cover a lot of ground in a relatively short time. Do you check your mirrors every second, five seconds, ten seconds?

I would say at least every 10 seconds but then maybe I'm paranoid

I generally watch them like a hawk before an overtake attempt because I've nearly been had off on rideouts several times when passing other bikes and other vehicles from other riders not checking their mirrors before attempting to pass.

About these guys, I've not much sympathy to be honest. If you want to do warp 10 then go find a twisty road that's quiet. Doing a million mph on a supersport is the bad stereotype, it's not good for the rest of us, nor is 150mph particularly difficult... If it was 170 I might be impressed.

My thoughts go to the other poor buggers involved and the riders families, must be rather disturbing for them.

A momentary lapse of judgement on that overtake which sadly lead to a tragic outcome.

I have almost had a coming together with fast moving bikes in the past.
