OK, cos I'm bored and it's to hot outside to be working on my garage (and next week it will probably be to wet!) I've done some research on that. Apparently you can get extra range on a CB by bouncing the signal off the atmospheric conditions, even to the point of reaching italy. How clever am I....

yeah skip was all the background gobbledegook that made no sense unless you spoke Italian. DXing was the term used for bouncing the garbage back. I used to have a huge burner that obliterated everone.

BTW, round here it was 1-9 for a copy. Imagine talking to complete strangers. Now we just type to them instead. Well you would always know where plod was in CB land

1-9, 1-9 for a rig check..

Got a bear on your back door, good buddy, ease off the pedal

That's a big 10-4...

Ah memories, but us truckers never forget the language... still use it in trucks which still have them fitted. Very handy in quarries when you're lost trying to find the correct graded sand or gravel, and getting the attention of the big wheel (digger driver.....)

To hell with the CB licence - they're not needed. Any time I've been stopped by VOSA or the cops, they haven't bothered to ask for the CB licence.
