I love pinlocks. I always have one fitted to my arai chaser, either a clear one or a dark tint. I cant say i've ever had a problem with light coming in around it, it does cover pretty much the entire visor.
I would say the pros are that they are cheaper, easier to carry with you and change if necessary and that they prevent misting. Cons are that they perhaps dont look as cool, and as some have said with some they might allow light in around the edge |

Andy - as for pinlock etc. Personally I think the pinlock is ace. Never get any fogging up at all, whereas a standard visor often does. Plus, I have had no issues with light getting in the gaps at all.

Ok folks just a bit of an update.
I have had the hyperoptiks insert in my visor for just inder 2 years now. (and had 2 of them) the insert is bigger than the standard pinlock and prevents the visor from sealing properly. (i don’t believe this would be an issue in the x1000 but in the raid2 it is) So over time the sticky glue comes away and it reduces the effectiveness of the antifogging (in winter) Therefore i have always been tempted to go back to the pinlock. Yesterday i picked up a clear pinlock and have discovered that there is substantially more ghosting in bright sunlight (yes because its not tinted) i have yet to see how it goes at night and in bad weather but the initial run this morning wasn’t great! This could be down to me wearing glasses but i am not sure. It has however meant i will be picking up a tinted insert ASAP! Ill let you know how that compares. |

![]() I had a race pinlock visor which covers just about the whole of the visor. With the visor down, you would struggle to notice the difference from pinlock to normal dark tint visor. |
