Neither! Will probably just do my time, would hate to lose my license after waiting so long to get it.

Out of curiosity, how fast should I be able to with the restriction? My bike seems to have no problem achieving 110mph, which I did testing capabilities. I have a restriction certificate from the dealer I purchased from.

Yeh very true. But TBH the law is there for a reason and therefore should be abided by.

Not invalidate, you just don't actually HAVE a license for the bike.

Metalhead, andrewsmith, you're talking bollox, the new drivers act 6 points jobbie starts from the FIRST FULL LICENCE gained. His 6 points/2 years is over and done.

Right then, you've got very little chance of getting caught for being naughty with the restriction. But if you do get caught then you're at risk of a serious stuffing. Half the police don't understand the law, the half who do are fairly limited in how they can check. There's no simple way to check at the side of the road.

Come on don't be a patronising wazzock. You telling me you never broke a speed limit? Hypocrite.

This law was thought up by some pillock of a Eurocrat who's never seen a bloody motorbike who reckons that an unrestricted GS500 is a mental nutter bike and anyone under 21 would instantly die a horrible and messy death if let loose with the insane delivery of, er, 40bhp.

an unjust law is no law at all, like this one. The only consideration is if the chance of being caught and the resulting punishment is worth the reward of ignoring it.

not fully sure about this but i have heard that VOSA carry the equipment to check certain ECU's and if you are stopped by an arsey copper ooorrr get caught at a ridiculous speed, they can call them out/take you to nearest VOSA testing station and find out.

if you get caught, you will lose licence/get a hefty fine and a fair few points

edit: doh, beat to it.

The 6 point restriction is for your first license held only, adding a category to the license doesn't alter it.

If you passed your car license over 2 years ago, you can have 12 points regardless of when you passed the bike test.

The difference unrestricted will mainly be felt in acceleration, hold on tight mate!
