I tell myself they mean well!!!

can't say too much about mine as Sister in law and my husband are both members

although my father in law is great he has a habit of just turning up whenever he feels like it and my mother in law tells me how to bring up my child and thats just part of it!

Ralph, you have the beginning of a fine film script there.

i dont have any inlaws as I divorced my first hubby, they never really spoke to me when we were married, certainly dont talk to me now. DD doesnt speak to his mum and hasnt for about 10 years so nothing to worry about there. My dad doesnt even know who I am. Had brain tumour removed 6 years ago now has full blown altzeimers he is only 67, cant eat or get dressed unaided. doesnt know who my mum is far less rest of family. My mum is brilliant but unfortunately is 450 miles away and cant travel to visit us. Really miss family support no matter how annoying it can be at times. Ralph your story did make me laugh

Awesome story Ralph!!

Anyway my in laws are great. No funny stories against them really.
My father in law can't decide which hobby to settle on, so far since last summer he's tried:
Fishing - sold all his fishing gear (thousands of £'s worth)
Motorbiking - swapped an acoustic guitar for a gpz600 for the motoGP at Silverstone (only time he rode it) and sold it on ebay
Drumming - with the proceeds from fishing he bought an expensive Electric Kit (£1.5k) and an expensive acoustic kit (£1.5k) then decided drumming was too loud, sold the lot for about £1k.
Guitar - with the money from the drums he bought 2 guitars, decided he couldn't play it so returned one and kept one
Drumming - after all this went and bought another acoustic kit
Fishing - and took up fishing again

He's worse than me for faddy hobbies but spends much more money than me doing it haha.

But he's a legend. Looks like Brad Freidel

My sadley departed FIL was so fussy about things being tidy that he refused to come into our house because it was too messy, wouldn't even come in the garden, MIL is just as particular about everything being clean.

He was a lovely man and my kids loved him, but this used to drive me nuts wth not even coming in the garden.

Our house is untidy, but not unclean. My wife spent her entire childhood in a military run tidying and cleaning routine, that when she got her own house, she decided that there were more important things in life than washing, cleaning hoovering.

milbert and filbert sound awesome what a great sense of humour ..must make notes when dd comes back Silbert sometime in the future.

I think they did astoundingly well for the trip..not sure I'd like to the do it when I get to 65 using some talking witchcraft thing that tells me where to go ( btw not the other half).

Milbert and Filbert are not unique and they appear in other familiar guises from other continents
